Throughout 2015, to stimulate profits, Planeta Kino was investing in movie markets — separate stores in cinemas with snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. The challenge for them was to make more popcorn; the challenge for us was to sell more.
Planeta Kino had 360,000 followers on social media who were always waiting for trailers. Why not show them what they want, but with popcorn buckets in the lead role?
We created five short premiere trailers shot in a pile of popcorn, with actors cut out of popcorn buckets. The videos were posted on social media and played on television screens near Planeta Kino popcorn outlets. Thousands of movie fans started reposting our trailers, and then retailers and even competing theaters started doing the same.
